To minimize damage, before we arrive you can start:

• Shut off the water source.
• STAY CALM: Call Maher Restoration. We will respond within an hour guaranteed.
• Turn off the circuit breaker to affected rooms.
• Place aluminum foil or wood blocks under furniture. This prevents staining
• Lift draperies away from wet carpet.
• Remove books, shoes, potted plants and other items which may stain wet carpet.
• Remove excess water by mopping and blotting.
• Wipe excess water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and tabletop items.
• Remove and prop wet upholstery and cushions, colored rugs, art objects and loose items from affected areas.
• Turn on Air Conditioner in the summer or heat in the winter. Desired temperature should remain between 72-76 degrees.

To minimize additional damage:

• Don't use your home vacuum to remove water (electrical shock can occur).
• Don't use newspaper in traffic areas to walk on (the ink transfers easily to wet carpet and can stain).
• Don't put wet contents on top of dry contents.
• Don't walk on carpet any more than necessary.
• Don't use ceiling fans if ceilings are wet.
• Keep out of rooms where ceilings are sagging.
• Don't leave wet fabrics in place. Hang furs and leather goods.
• Don't leave books, magazines or other colored items on wet carpet or floors.
• Don't use television or other household appliances.
